Far Cry 2
Released in October 2008, Far Cry 2 is the second instalment in the Far Cry series, which now has six main games and numerous spin-offs.
The setting of Far Cry 2 is a fictional country in East Africa that’s ravaged by war. The game is a first-person shooter, and your ultimate objective is to take down the Jackal, an enemy behind much of the conflict. You can visit landmarks such as the pyramids and the Sphinx and head to thriving cities such as Memphis and Alexandria.
The Assassin’s Creed series focuses on a millennia-long struggle between the Assassins, who want free will, and the Templars, seeking order and control. It blends realism with sci-fi and historical characters with fictional ones. Stealth, combat and exploration are key elements of the games. It’s also one of Ubisoft’s highest selling releases, having sold over 10 million copies.
Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil is a horror video game series where you typically try to survive outbreaks of zombies and other creatures. There are over two dozen games, including seven main series and many spin-offs and remakes.
The fifth main instalment was released in 2009 and is set in Kijuju, a fictional country in West Africa. It’s all about the characters Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar and their investigation of a terrorist threat. RE5 was noted for shifting away from the survival horror genre and incorporating more elements of action and combat. Still, it’s the franchise’s best-selling video game, with over 13 million units sold to date.

Halo 3: ODST
Halo 3: ODST is the third instalment in the Halo franchise. It takes place in New Mombasa, an enhanced version of the southeastern coastal city of Mombasa in Kenya. It’s a first-person shooter where you’re tasked with finding out what happened to your character’s missing teammates.
You have to explore New Mombasa and find clues to determine the whereabouts of your teammates. However, many threats are standing in your way since this is a shooter.
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain
Released in 2015, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain follows mercenary leader Punished ‘Venom’ Snake. He’s on a mission to exact revenge on those who destroyed his forces and nearly killed him in the previous Metal Gear Solid game, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.
The action occurs in two primary locations: Afghanistan, occupied by the Soviets, and the Angola-Zaire border.
